Salt added to a few Solid Gold dry dog foods |

Due to the formulation changes previously described, a few of our dry
foods required the addition of salt. This addition was necessary
because the raw ingredients in the new formula did not provide enough
naturally occurring sodium to meet the minimum required levels to
maintain the health of adult dogs and puppies. Sodium is a necessary
mineral that aids in many functions of the body, not the least of which
is the heart beat. Salt (NaCl) is the easiest and best way of
increasing the sodium levels in those dry foods that needed extra
sodium. The actual sodium levels of the foods have not increased with
the new formula.
Due to an excess inventory of bags with the old ingredient panels, we
applied stickers with the correct, new ingredient panel over the old
ingredient panel. However, some of these bags still have the claim, “No
Salt Added” on the bulleted points on the back of the bag. The new bags
with new formulations have this omitted. We thank you for your patience
and understanding during this transitional period.
