Did you know that nearly one in five companies allows pets in the
workplace? According to a survey conducted by the American Pet Products
Manufacturers Association, (APPMA) 55 Million Americans believe having
pets in the workplace leads to a more creative environment, and believe
it or not, 46 million people who bring their pets to the workplace work
longer hours..
Today is National Take Your Dog to Work Day! It is a positive and fun
way to celebrate manÃs and womanÃs best friend. And who knows, it might
be your best friend that convinces someone in your office to adopt a
dog of their own.
This is the 10th annual Take Your Dog to work day, and Zeus and Company
wants to make sure that everyone is prepared because you need to
consider your co-workers, your office space and make sure your dog is
happy.
Here are some helpful tips if you plan on bringing your pooch to the
office.
- Check with management and co-workers to see if anyone is allergic
afraid or opposed to you bringing your dog to work for this one special
day.
- Bathe, and groom your dog before its office debut. And be sure
shots and vaccinations are up to date.
- Prepare a doggie bag. Include food, treats, bowls, toys, leash
and maybe a portable kennel for your dogs comfort.
- Plan your petÃs feeding times carefully. Be sure to choose an
appropriate area for your dog to do its business afterward.
- Avoid forcing co-workers to interact with your dog. Dog lovers
will make themselves known. To avoid pet accidents, monitor the amount
of treats your pet is being given. Remember, chocolate, candy and
people food should not be shared with your dog.
- Have an exit strategy. Although most dogs enjoy TYDTWD, your pet
may not. Should your dog become overly boisterous, agitated or
withdrawn, consider taking him or her home. However, never, under any
circumstance, leave your pet alone in a vehicle while you work.
Partner with a shelter, Ask your local shelter or favorite rescue group
to join your TYDTW Day event. Invite them to bring adoptable pets or
information about local adoption opportunities to your place of
business.
